Does anyone know the approximate release date for this. I'm finding that users don't like changes, so I'm contemplating installing a bunch of hacks only to have to upgrade and change things a couple weeks later.

We're aiming at a public beta some time in December, however we're not sure when exactly everything will be done.
So far we're generally on schedule.
