I will first say that I know absolutely nothing about hacking a ubb. I only know most html. But I'm very curious about a feature my website partner told me is available with the newer ubb's. The one where you may change the "status" of your members. For instance I could simply label only certain specific members as "Outstanding" if I choose. Then each time they'd post, it would show this label of "Outstanding" below their name on every single post. Then later if I choose I can change this title back to one that all he regular members hold.
I have a specific reason for needing to do this. As we have scrapbooking swappers on my forums. And some tend to not follow through with their swapping commitments. I'm hoping I can do this instead of making some type of an actual a "black list" on my site. This way I can simply & easily let it be known to the community who is & who is not a flaker (to inform those honest swappers about who is/isn't honest), but in a somewhat nice way (by saying only they are outstanding instead). We're hoping to do this as a last resort to banning them all together. Then maybe this way they'll be less inclined to flake out on sending their goods to others (& they'll send their stuff in the acceptable amount of time without excuses), especially if they know in advance that everyone will know. Hope I've made some sense here?
I know I should just upgrade to the newest version of the ubb... but I just honestly don't have the money to do so at this time. That's why I wondered if there was a hack for this feature. And my next question would be, how easy if this to do? Is this a hack that a person (like me) who's never hacked before could do? Or would this be way over my head? I certainly don't want to crash/ruin my boards. Any guidance or help here would be very appreciated.
