Ive read the documentation and set up the demo UBB 6.0 board. This version of UBB writes to a flat file, as opposed to a database. Has anyone noticed a significant problem with access time?

Is there anything to be gained by using the UBB™ Accelerator option, which requires PHP 4.05 or higher with the optional zlib libraries compiled? Is it worth the trouble?

Does anyone have any information about problems or helpful hints concerning installing and managing UBB on MS IIS 5?

Thanks in advance.

all versions of UBB write to a flat file, and it seems to work pretty well smile
they say it works well with boards of up to I think 20k members, then it starts lagging a bit...

edit: all versions except ubbthreads of course smile

UBB is a breeze on IIS 5

Just make sure that you have .pl and .cgi pointing at perl.exe and give the IUSR_XXXXXX user proper rights to the cgi-bin, members and noncgi directories.

Also, when you map the extensions to Perl make sure they look like this... click here

I use Apache for Windows now, and I'm much happier with it than when I was using IIS. It just has more powerful configuration abilities that allow you to control a broader range of things.
