Hi all,
Am new here, and noticed that mods come in two flavors: zsip or multihack.
I know what mutihack is and how it works, but I was hoping to hear from you hard core UBBers whether you think multihack is something that should be used, or if editing files by hand is still the best way?
And if editing by hand is still the best way, then what do you do when a new version of UBB comes out?
thx

The only hacks I use are ones that I've written.
I considered using multihack, but decided that all the VB/DB stuff it requires was too much trouble, and also didn't like the fact that the file formats are not documented.
I use BeyondCompare to port my hacks to new versions.

I prefer to use the "by hand" method. Multihack is faster but is not error free. The few times I tried it the hack I was putting in overwrote parts of hacks that were already installed.
None of the hacks are long enough to take more than just a few minutes to do and I like having control over the install.

If you have time to learn the code and get your fingers a little messy, edit by hand. If you want something pretty much guaranteed to install and run the first time, use multihack - it works well.

thanks for the help all. i found multihack a bit confusing, and beyondcompare costs mula (sp?), so i decided to continue hacking by hand.
