Sometimes, after I clear the Cache, all the CGI scripts of UBB just stop working. Then, about 3 minutes later it will let you access the ultimatebb.cgi and give you this error:

quote:
Variable file not found! Please open the UBB control panel to rebuild the necessary file.

ยป Please use your browser's back button to return.

Now I enter my CPANEL, rebuild forum stats, and everyhting is fine until next time. I don't know whats wrong... Any ideas?

Please post the URL to your board. That error is very abnormal.

I have these hacks installed

-Avatars
-Calendar
-RPG Stats
-Individual Posting Stats
-Who's Online List
-Statistics
-Who's Online Effect
-Mega Moderator

Thats the list. Unfortunately, about 10 minutes after I posted the topic something really messed up happened and my ultimatebb.cgi file got CHmod incorrectly, and it is not letting me reCHmod it. That is why the forums arent up now, but thats really besides the point, as Ive been have this VAR probelm for the past few weeks. Could it have anything to do with the server? Maybe the hacks? I made sure to follow the hack instructions very carefully, and none of the hacks in particular seemed to have caused a problem...

Thanks for your help.

hey,
just wondering, what does nuking it mean? Ive seened that used before and just assumed it means "killed it" although Ive never had a clear defination.

Anyway, it seems liek it is the server, not the UBB. Everytime I clear the cache, all the files on teh message boards have to be redownloaded by the user, right? Well my boards are pretty active, iwth averages of 70+ users online most of the time, so I think that immediately after the cache is cleared the server gets overloaded. Thats my hypothesis, cuz now that my host let us back up (shut us down for having 428 connections per second.), I havent had any problems.

Does that sound liek it could be the problem?

sorry to double post, but this is what they responded when I suggested that to them.

"I have re-enabled the script for the server.

You may want to talk to the scritp programmers to see why it is causing so many connections to the server when you clear the cashe.

This is the second time that this has happened. The number of connections is not being caused by the server. Our admins asked me to inform you that this site is being monitored closely."
