I post here because you guys are the best and I find all my answers here!!! I'm running 6.2.1 I put in a few mods, but I seem to have broken a few things I was curious if it was possible, to reset a UBB site back to a default install (6.2.1) with no hacks/mods, but maintain all the user records and the post records. Thus, in a sense, I'd have a clean install of 6.2.1 that I can try to re-hack the mods back into, and pay attention to what I'm doing and not screw things up... all the while, not losing and user information. Is this possible? If so, what are the steps?

Doc,
Yeah, this is possible. I know, because when I was trying to install some hacks to my test board, I messed up.
Basically what you do is "upgrade" it again. Go through the steps outlined for upgrading from 6.2 to 6.2.1
Just make sure you don't zap any of your variable files (as they warn you against when you do the upgrade).

Thanks ADWOFF....
I'll give it a try and see what havoc I can cause (after I archive everything of value!)

That's always a wise thing to do!
You'd think I would've learned from my first round of hacking, but I think I finally figured out a system for keeping track of the hacks I've done--so if something doesn't take the way that it should, I can just go back and reload the backup.
Basically, I created a folder and call it Hack_1_mods_wordlets
Hack_2_calendar
and so on ...
This worked really well for me yesterday when I messed something up.
I put the files in there that must be hacked; they are then my "backup" files. If I can use Multihack, I copy those files into the respective folders for that program. If not, then inside the Hack_2_calendar (as an example), I create a file called "backup" and copy the files there (I love WS_FTP!).
As I said, I messed something up with one of my later hacks, so I just worked back through the hack files I had created--to grab the most recent files of the ones I had messed up with.
For some, this sent me clear back to the upgrade file.
Anyone else have another system that they use to keep things straight?
