I have lost my re-direction (auto-return) after a post or reply, I know that UBBNews is the cause but I do not know in which file or specific code block to look for a solution, problem is UBBNews is an integral part of my front page , it was designed around the hack.

After a server problem forced me to restore all my files last week, (twice because of this problem) my auto return worked perfectly, after each restore, when I tried to activate UBBnews ( tried to edit a prior session), I got an error ( within the cp) saying that the file didn't exist. When I FTPed - it was there, so on both occasions I deleted the old file and recreated a new one (through cp) and UBBnews worked again - BUT on each occasion I (immediately) lost my auto return.

I suspect that ultimatebb.cgi may the affected file, (maybe a time-out problem or something) which no longer functions.

Everything else is fine.

(in response to a prior suggestion, I have not installed the “anchor” hack- don’t know what it is)

If anyone has experienced this before and solved it, perhaps you could point me in the right direction.

Any help - much appreciated.

What hacks have you installed?
I don't understand how UBBNews could have done that.
What files does it edit?

Lord Dexter,

Thanks for the reply and yes, it's tempting to assume it's not UBBnews - maybe another hack BUT please be assured - it is.

After each (of 2) separate restores last Sunday, I gave the board a good shake-down and all was well.

But each time when I went to edit a UBBnews session (through cp) I got an error saying that the session "didn't exist". It did - but the restore had somehow caused the board to not register it.

Since there was no way to delete the session(s) through cp, I uploaded the sessions again (vars_ubbnews_1.cgi, +2+3) - cleared cache and then they registered with cp to allow me to delete them and start again with new ones.

On each occasion AFTER I'd created a new session, the re-direct stopped working (I was looking specifically for it)

I went through this whole routine twice.

It seems clear that whatever caused the error, corrupted some part of a file, and that's my challenge.

Which part of which file executes the re-direct/auto return after a post or reply?

That's where I need to be looking.

Any advice??
