Hey, I've had a problem with a malicious act recently, someone tried to flood my board with the same topic, just ran like crazy, 70 or 80 of the same garbage. Not a very nice thing to do huh...tried to crash it maybe???

What's the best way to deal with this kind of thing??? Flood control is on but I guess someone tried to go around it.

Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated,

i have some ideas...

• allow only registered users to post...
• add a short JS-Code to block the post-button if it is pressed once...
• add a "posting-ID" (generate the ID when the page "new topic" or "reply" is loaded) to a database the ID, check the ID when the new topic/reply is posted and delete the ID when it is finished...

i don't know how to code the 2. and 3. idea for V6.x

If you are able to monitor your board closely and you're able to delete the spam very quickly the person(s) that post it will be less likely to try it again. Its not worth their effort if its just going to be removed and no one gets a chance to see it.

Ban the spammer and his email.

Steve, the manual deleting was what I did. Happened to be around when it happened.

Lord Dexter, I've got no problem with banning if it's needed. What I might have is a committed jerk to deal with and he has a roaming IP address, likes to sign up new email accounts on hotmail or something, a very bored person I guess... New Members are pending posting privilage now.

Joking-down, I don't understand completely your ideas but I'm interested.
