My board has run very smooth up to this point. I am an amature webmaster I know HTML good but not real swift on this message board deal but it has become a big part of my site. My server host had to shut down the board and I have no idea how to get it back up and running. The following is an email I recieved from my web host. There seems to be a problem with your install of Ultimate BB. It is currently going crazy on the our servers and opening lots of processes and not closing them. I have been forced to disable the messageboard by chmodding it to 000. It sounds like there is a problem with the flat database the BB is using. I have to request that you do not run this again until you are sure it is working properly. If you need help in doing this, you may want to contact http://www.infopop.com for help. If anyone has any ideas on how I can fix this please let me know. If having to purchase a new board is what it takes that is fine I just need this problem fixed and haven't a clue where to even start. Thanks in advance, Gary Stroud

welcome gary  a little info : - what version are you running? - do you have the php accelerator turned on? - do you have any modifications installed? - if, so, which ones? - what kind of stats does your forum have? number of members/posts/concurrent users? - server hardware stats? it sounds like a shared server... OS? we can get a better idea of what's going on

no mods that I am aware of
it is a shared server on UNIX i think
I know "thinks" don't give alot of help on your part but it's all i know. I am to the point now I want a message board like this one, but will be happy to just get mine back in running good.

No problem If you are able to upgrade, it would help, quite a bit of work has been done by Charles in improving such things as server load in searches, etc. If you need some assistance upgrading, you can contact me in a pm. First thing to do would be to turn the php accelerator on, makes a big difference in server load

That's the third time I've seen that same exact response from a web hosting provider in response to a UBB locking up.
Who is your host?

Yup, that's what I thought.
About when did you get the message? I suspect that something odd went wrong with the server and they've simply decided that all the UBBs need to go...

I had that problem on a Cobalt RAQ server but since I moved it hasn't happened again.

If someone would like to meet me on MSN messanger i would be glad to let them take a look in the cgi-bin to see if indeed its a server problem and not a ubb problem. I did find out today that my license has expired so I may just want to upgrade to a board like this. My MSN messanger is [email protected]

your-site.com is a cheap server that is not worth the headaches they offer. I have started using silverwebshosting.com and they apear to be a great company.
