I posted this in another forum here. Hopefully you can help me.

I'd like to create a private and hidden forum on my UBB (v 6.04f). I know how to make a forum private and restrict access; however, I do not know how to remove a forum from the directory and drop down menu (thus preventing public view).

We have agreed to access this would-be secret forum via a bookmark. I have turned the forum "off" and accessed it through my bookmark. Sadly, though, I could not post because the forum was inactive. That is the only non-hack solution I performed.

Are there any other non-hack solutions I could use to hide a forum and its link from public view?

If not, I have the hack for making a hidden forum. How do I install that and activate it?

Thank you for your assistance.

I am not aware that this can be done without adding a hack (modification)

Adding it is really simple. First **backup the files that will be modified** These should be listed int he hacks top section as most authors do list the files. Next **make sure you backed up the proper files that will be modified** Close your board, then just follow the directions. All it entails is finding the proper text sequence and replacing or adding the supplied text before/after it as the install calls for. Once you finisht the modification will be active immediatly upon re-opening your board.

Dennis, I love your idea! It works perfectly. I want the secret forum to be a Moderator forum where the mods move threads in question to this secret forum.

But, when I set this forum to no category, the mods cannot move a post the forum....Any way around this to have that kind of capability?

Thnx,
peter

Yeah I've avoided that hack...

What I've done as a temporary until I find the appropriate hack, is place < no script> around the forum name....There's a blank forum, and in the forum description I just put another link to the Private Messages. You can access the forum through the dropdown menu though, but I have it restricted access.. It's not perfect, but at least it's secret enough to those that don't know much about UBB...
