I have an error occurring ... I don't know if it's because a thread became too big ... or not ... help would be appreciated!

An error has occured:

Tried to open zero-sized topic 000001 in forum 33. at CGIPath/ubb_lib_files.cgi line 763.

Please inform the board administration of this error so that they may fix the problem. Thank you!
I tried to Rebuild the Forum Stat files in the CP, and I kept getting this error.

It shows up in the Today's Active Topics' screen, too.

help

I've had that error before and used FTP to delete the offending file. Everything was fine after that.

Would that mean deleting the thread that is causing the error?

It is a HUGE thread that involves a contest. I'd really hate to lose it.

Hmmm, I had to delete the thread file. There may be another way that I don't know of...

Anybody have a better answer? Please?

If its a zero sized thread, then you've already lost everything in the thread. All you can do is delete the thread and rebuilt the forum stat files to make sure everything is hunky dory.

One way that i have saved my threads is thus

(**NOTE: I couldnt get this working with private forums)

1: Copy all the files from the knacked forum folder
2: In the cp delete the forum
3: re-create the forum
4: Rename the copied knacked file to (forum_##.threads) the new forum number
5: copy over the knacked files into the new forum folder (overwriting all files)
6: rebuild forum in cp

Now sometimes this works first time but if it dosnt try again, i have saved full forums (1000's of topics) by doing it this way

If it constantly keeps doing it then i think its safe to assume its really knacked laugh

Hope this helps

PS....sorry for resurecting an oldish topic but i thoght this might be helpful to someone smile

Uh... confused zero-sized topics can not be ressurected, as the topic itself has been nuked from the planet...

Unless you've made a backup, of course, in which case you can reupload the offending file and continue... smirk

Sue,

Don't know if this is what happened to you or not but I've had this happen too. It was because the first post of the thread was deleted. On one of my boards, they had the nasty habit of starting threads ad then deleting them. What a nightmare that was when I took it over! Trying to rebuild stats took me a couple hours as I ended up having to go to FTP and delete all of the "offending" files. I then turned off the function allowing members to delete their posts. Yeah, they complained... but it sure beats stuff like this happening.

Whoa, Kel, I only allow moderators to delete posts, so if that's what happened ... mad

Ironically, I just had this happen the other day with one of my long-time threads. Sometimes I wonder if a thread gets "too big"--something breaks in it.
