alright, so, im not that smart. thats a given smile

i was somehow able to monkey my way thru hacking previous incarnations of my ubb (5.4x), creating new designs, adding hacks i found here, n'such.

but, these new boards are confusing me.

when the final release of ubb6 comes out, and, i try to change the design (layouts and placements and stuff)... what do i edit? the variable files? the templates? the variables? a combo of all/some of'em?

then (again, in the final release) when i try to add hacks (like the news fader or who's online, etc) ... then what do i edit?

I understand your confusion - UBB6 is TOTALLY different.

Check out the link in my sig for a general overview of what you will need to expect.

I'm sure that there will be a complete hacking guide out within a week or two of UBB6's final release.

Essentially, yes, it will be "leave hacking to the professionals"... but there needs to be a push towards actually helping others become professionals in order for that to work. smile

Professionals? This new UBB is so much easier to hack... hell, I can write hacks for it and I don't know the first thing about Perl (well... maybe I know the first thing, and second and third... but I still suck). The last UBB was way harder to hack tipsy

in my opinion it just seems so much more organized...and things in the code just seem to fit. lol, the extra profile fields don't hurt either.
