Should I install the BETA or wait for the final version? Will it be hard to upgrade to the final version? Please respond.

If you are not comfortable installing the Beta, then don't - there are a number of known issues...

Upgrading is relatively easy....

ONLY upgrade to the beta if your willing to take a small but important risk that it is beta - that is all. It's beta software and has bugs. Use at your own risk and report the bugs.

I'm comfortable installing the BETA--now that I know not to delete UltBB.setup and all the other old files! LOL! So, do you think it's a big risk or not?

Well, it matters how much you need from your 5. How many members do you have, how many topics do you have? I'm running 6.0 Beta 7.9 and it's running 5000 times better than UBB 5.7

However, I suggest installing UBB 6 Gold, which should be out in a week or two.

A very minor, yet significant risk. Backup your files and try it. If it screwes up, upload the backups.

Well, we only have a few members. It hasn't really caught on that well. LOL! Anyway, I'm worried about another thing. I think the license runs out soon. If I have trouble installing the new version, I'll be out of luck! (New version has a license check thing, right?) What should I do?

Please answer... What if the license runs out by the time I figure it out?

Then it would be crazy to upgrade if you aren't sure if you wanna keep it. V6 is gonna be a major improvement over v5 in quite a fgew areas, it's up to you to decide if it is worth the extra price tho, I think it is.

Well, if your members area expires you can still get some sort of support.

But doesn't it have a security thingie where it checks to make sure you have a license? If the members area access is expired, won't it think it's invalid?

As long as your license number is valid, you're fine. It won't matter if your Members Area access has lapsed.

Well, if you have hacks on your UBB that effect your profile (i.e. User Text) it wll probably be more difficult in upgrading your UBB.

Acctually, I looked at the code. Does that really verify a license number to install? Or is it like the old license section of the old CP. That would be a very good thing to do though to keep people from giving others the files...

Well, I think I'll probably wait for the full version if it's coming soon. How soon is it now?
