has anyone being able to post without being logged in , eventhough that username is registered ?

i have a forum that has public access by its nature. but it seems that people can post with the name of a registered person ?

i apologise if this question is in the qwrong place , but i'm sure someone will respond ..

I haven't seen this Paul, what version are you seeing this in? And have you modified the files? If so, what?

Need the info... wink

VERSION : 6.04a

i didn't modify any files yet wink

i did however try to frown , but i went back to the origional ones, cause i messed somethings up.

i haven't fully identified where my problem sprang from , and the board doesn't allow people to register names of people that are registered before

as you would hope ...

where in the posting CGI file is there a check to see if that name is registered and won't allow you to post because of that.

i might try tomorrow to just upload all them blasted files one by one again.

thanks allen

Not being able to use pre-used usernames is the designed behavior... it keeps the confusion down...

mind you i did tamper with the members list, as i had to edit one person's name as in their login name .

so maybe i left a stray character lying around the place.

well i am goning to try to replace some of them again and see what happens.
