Here's the scoop: I get an Internal Server Error #500 when I try to run it. This is version 6.04e. I got the hello.pl and hello.cgi scripts to both run, so my perl path and version are correct, but the test file won't even run. When I ran the file through a script checker (provided by AITcom) I was rewarded with the following:

TEST 4: perl syntax
Can't locate strict.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/i686-linux/5.00404 /usr/lib/perl5 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/i686-linux /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl .) at ubb6_test.cgi line 55.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at ubb6_test.cgi line 55.

I have an extremely limited knowledge of CGI, and this is my first venture using a lot of it, so any help would be very much appreciated!

BTW, the script is stored here: http://www.bettendorfstanford.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ubb6_test.cgi

it sounds like your web host needs to update their perl installation, doesn't sound like all the modules are installed (strict.pm)

strict.pm is there (it's in /usr/lib/perl5/5.00502). Does that mean I need to change the path? I didn't think so, because the file "perl" is located elsewhere... I just don't know enough about Linux servers yet. It seems to me that my host might just have it in the wrong place, but then again, I don't know much here.

you are talking about 2 different versions of perl there... the one in your first post (unless it's labeled wrong) is 5.00404, the one in your last post is 5.00502, you might check with your web host to make sure you are using the the correct path.

I see...here's the deal with the versions:
The first version 5.00404, is what the hello.cgi and hello.pl scripts return. The directory in which the strict.pm file is located is /usr/lib/perl5/5.00502, so I'm beginning to think that my host didn't set it up right. I'll check on that, get it fixed, and if that works then it all should work.

I'm using AITcom, and they've now twice confirmed that perl is correctly set up and that I'm using the correct path, so I don't know what exactly is going wrong.

Alright, has anyone here ever dealt with AITcom? I've been informed that perl is not set up right on their servers. Can I fix it, and if not, how do I convince their almighty tech-support system (yeah, right...) to get it fixed?

The best thing to do would simply be to send an email to their support sayinf strict.PM is not installed on the latest perl build and that you need it. It should be no problem.

Check that... Um, I had them install strict.pm, and they confirmed that they had done it, yet, I still get the same errors. What now?
