Use a program called Beyond Compare. You can find it at www.scootersoftware.com. I managed to upgrade to 6.05 a few days ago after some experimenting. It's shareware though, wonder if there's any other freeware that performs the same functions???

Same here. Too confusing for the average ubb sysop. I just want to upgrade without losing my hacks. I wish there was an EASY way to do this. I know there is a software program that does make it a little easier, but so far he doesn't have many hacks added with their own script.

Beyond compare is not so tough to use at all. I did it like this.
I have a [UBB 6.04f] folder where I keep a local copy of the older Ubb on my hard disk. It looks exactly like when you unzip the zip file for your ubb and all the modifications have been done there.
Then I unzipped the updated ubb into another folder [UBB 6.05]. When using Beyond Compare, simply set the two directory to the older UBB [UBB 6.04f] and the newer UBB [UBB 6.05]. The program will compare all the files in the two folders and show you which file and portion is different. Synchronising the different files is done with just one button. Upload the new UBB files and you're done.

Man, I was wondering the exact same thing and just did a search for this topic, so I'm glad I found it. I think what you should do, is wait for 6.1 to come out, and then reinstall your hacks, and then just leave your board alone for a while,
If you are lucky, then most of your hacks have been installed using shw files or Multihack. If this is the case, then you are stoked.
