Hi, I was just thinking about upgrading finally to 6.05 from 6.01...but do I need to do anything special when upgrading?

Do I need to redo the whole thing...but just not the members directory?

Thank you very much for any assistance..

You will need the full zip not the upgrade. To upgrade, just upload every templates and all of the CGI except for certain variables/wordlets.

You don't want to upload all wordlets if you have changed them then you would have to do it all over again wink Using Beyond Compare will make it less stressful.

Thank you for the responses!

So I wanted to recreate my forum on another webaddress that I have, but I forgot that the forum info, such as where things are located and stuff would not allow the forum to work there..

Is there anyway to fix that..so that I can upgrade and stuff there and then just move it over? Or is this stupid and there is a better way?

I did the upgrade I think sunday night smile If you already have a running board, then just upload the cgi-bin files and the wordlet files in the variables folder in ASCII to your respected folders.

Then upload your noncgi stuff...remember, gifs and jpgs can be uploaded in binary. The templates folder I uploaded in ascii..seems to work for me so.

Then you have to chmod everything. CGI files need to be 755 as with the cgi-bin folder.

The var files need to be chmodded 777.

The noncgi folder is chmodded...hmm..777 I believe.

I think that should do it! smile Hopefully...post again if it doesnt work.

WTF?!?! I upgraded like you said and I lost all my forums! It only lists 9 individual un-named forums and I had 35 before. Fortunately, the original posts are still there but the formating is all gone! Can anyone help me with this? Please?!?!?! eek eek

yeah, upload the vars_forums.cgi file that you hopefully still have a copy of somewhere... not the blank one, the one with the forum/category info in it.
