Ok this is wierd, I was finally able to close down the board for a while. After 5 mins opened back up and was able to post, but there was a limited amount of people. So it seems the more people are logged in or browsing the boards the higher percentage of getting 500 internal error message. What should I do?

Could be your server is just getting clogged up. UBB doesn't run quite as efficiently on WinNT/2000 as it does on Unix, which is probably part of the problem. Is your board hacked or stock? Hacks add to instability problems, so you may try going back to a clean install if you currently have hacks on, and see how that affects it...

Hmm thanks for your imput. I'm thinking I'm gonna enable the members only feature. Yeah the board is hacked, several hacks. I guess its time for me to upgrade to a unix dedicated server. Thanks for your help!

I'm having trouble doing anything in the control panel now. Is there a file that I can edit to turn on the members only feature. I cant do it through the control panel(500 Errors)! Thanks.

In vars_display.cgi, look for 'MembersOnlyAccess' => 'NO', and change it to YES.
