I'm having bad problems with my 6.1 upgrade and I hope someone has an idea what's wrong. I've tried everything I can think of, all to no avail. I wasn't able to find any posts relating to our particular setup on infopop or here. When I try to go to the control panel after uploading all the new files I get this:
When I try to go to just the ultimatebb.cgi I get:
I'm on a Win2K box. I tried changing permissions for internet guest to full access and that didn't help any. I reuploaded the files multiple times from multiple downloads of different versions of the zip from infopop to make sure it wasn't the upload, download, or zip file that was bad. I'm going to try setting up a test board without upgrading next I guess

Update, I removed the old board and put in a clean install in the same folders as a test. After uploading the files I was able to get to the initial path setup screen, but after that I got the same errors. It seems it must be a problem with my security or something like that. Any thoughts?

Yah I get that too. I tried both a fresh and upgrade. and no matter what it wont work...luckily I tried it on my test board before doing the one for my site.

I'm running IIS 5 and ActivePerl on Windows 2000 SP2.

My website is on a Unix server and my friend upgraded his (we're on the same server) without any probs. I'm kinda reluctant to upgrade after all the hacks I've installed...

If u open up the file called ubb_lib_filehandle.cgi from ubb's cgi folder, you will see why the board is not working.
I guess so far there are two ways to solve this problem.
1. If u are using FAT32 file system. Convert to NTFS. ex) convert [Drive:] /fs:ntfs [/v]

2. or check the line around 161 of file ubb_lib_filehandle.cgi and follow the instruction.

Unfortunately, it already is NTFS. I'll comment out that section to test it though. Thanks junoman.

I commented out lines 176-195, as that seemed what lines they were referring to, and no dice. Still the same error And I double-checked, we are on NTFS.

Aaaaaah NOOOOOOO!

I cant use NTFS cuz I also got 98 on the same drive...well that just bites.
Well, I guess I'll have to comment-out that thing...

I commented out the block that the author refers to and didn't see any change.

I THEN commented out the next block that is also checking for incorrect written file length and that seemed to fix the problem.

I AM running NTFS on NT4.

Don't know what else could be happening.

I just tried commenting out all the way down to the Return 1 and it did nothing for me. Still the same errors. I went in and checked/tweaked all my .pl/.cgi settings and my security settings. Nothing seems to be working.

UBB 6.1.0.1 fixed my problems, healed my crippled leg and made me smell fresh as an Irish spring.
