Can the cells in which replies are posted be made transparent? What I am after is for the text to appear to be floating over a background pic and not bounded by the cell.Like this cell, it's pale gray but if it was transparent the white of the page would be seen.

You can remove the color from the td and add
style="color: transparent"

Warning: This MIGHT not work as you expect. The inner cells (that have color) are backed by the table that forms the table border color.
The cells may well be transparent, but the only color underneath might be the table border color!
