I honestly do not know if this is the forum to place this but I need help.. If this is not the forum for this to be here I am so sorry..

the question is.. I have been using multihack to hack ubb on my computer and I want to upload it over an older verion of ubb but the problem is I know that there is certain files that I should not over-write as they will mess up the ubb.. Would anyone know which files they may be as not to mess up the ubb? I appreciate it and thanks..

Welcome smile

This should be in the New Members' Forum; a mod or admin will probably move it soon, so don't worry about reposting wink

It depends what you want to keep. As a rule, to upgrade, overwrite the CGI scripts, the Templates directory and the Wordlets files (NOT the variable files). This will mean your members, posts/forums and current settings stay intact. smile

If you could provide a little more information, I could give you more specific details regarding what to do smile

ok thanks I am sorry to have posted this in the wrong forum... anywayz I have a newer version of ubb and I hacked it mostly using the lutihack...anyway I also changed the theme and buttons it will be using the Jc templetes instead of the standard that the current ubb is using now... but when I upload the newer ubb over the old one I was told not to over-write certain files but dont know which ones they are as I dont want to screw thing up...lol

but as to what you said above about not over-writing the varables would I not have to since some of the variable files are modified with some of the hacks???

Thanks for helping and again I am really sorry that I did not post in the right forum....

it's not the unforgivable sin smile

If you are upgrading to a new version, you can use the upgrade zip, uploading all the files from it and you won't have to worry about uploading the wrong ones, tho you will lose your old mods.

moving now smile
