I was looking to save some room on the server and found these Dir's.

"cache-BLZZYEPJ" 38+ megs

"cache-54CD2Y7T" 7+megs

"cache-2BW25UJF 16+ megs

all three have the subdirectories

"search_index" and "ubb_files"

Can I clean these out or dump them?

Thanks
Delw

Go to vars_config.cgi. Delete the 2 other directories, that aren't mentioned in "cache_pw". (for example, if cache_pw is "BLZZYEPJ", delete "54CD2Y7T" and "2BW25UJF")

By the way, the string of random characters after the "cache-" is supposed to be secret. If someone knows what it is, he can potentially access files that he's not supposed to see. tipsy

Those directories are where the cached copies of your forum files are. I am really not sure how/why multiple directories get made, it's usually in a forum that's been transferred, upgraded (someone's upped a new vars_config.cgi file), etc. They also hold your search indexes, so deleting extra ones could save some major space smile

Saving additional space :

- make sure images are optimized for size
- if your forum started out as a v5 series ubb (since upgraded to v6 series), you can now safely go through and delete the Forum#/HTML folders from each forum as they are no longer needed/used - that can make a huge difference if you were a v5 forum for a while.
- that's about it smile

welcome smile If disk space is limited, that's one of the better reasons to upgrade to the 6 series smile
