Any idea why this is happening? It doesn't matter if I am searching in one forum or in all forums.
I cleared cache, rebuilt the search index & member stat files -- I basically did everything under the maintenance tab. I haven't added anything for the past 4 months.
I'm running 6.04e.
thank you for any assistance...

Please restore the powered-by statement to a visible color, as required by the license agreement. This is controlled via the Copyright Color in style settings.
Your forums are *VERY* large, and I would highly advise upgrading, as newer releases are far more robust when dealing with large forums. This will also fix the serach problem you're encountering - the exact problem is that your web hosting provider has placed a memory limit on scripts (as all good providers should), and the old 6.04e search is bumping into the limit. The search engine in the latest releases uses comparatively little memory and should be faster to boot.

I know this is a stupid question --- but I don't have style settings. Was it called something else in this version? I have the Powered By in white already against a black background. But I do see that you have "UBB.classicTM 6.3.1.2 " underneath your Powered By statement on this page, so I think that is what you are talking about.
I have configuration settings, custom status rank settings, date/time settings, e-mail settings, forum settings, general display settings, misc. settings, calender settings, moderator settings & pm settings. I've looked in all of these settings & can't find it... I know it has to be there...
I'm sorry for the long post-- I just want to make sure everything is okay with this --
