Using Version 6.3.0.1 ... Recent Visitors Admin view. I see Guest #1430 but when I look to see where he is browsing, I see this: quote: Confuzzlement: 0020100000.0000 December 31, 2002 03:22 PM No link... no nothing. And no, I do not have a forum or thread with that name. What the heck is this?!?!?!

I believe the Confuzzlement is CC's cute name for the Recent Visitors area. The person you're looking at is looking at the Recent Visitors area too.

No... because in the same screen shot that I took, it shows me in "Recent Visitors". And it is an active link to the Recent Visitors page. I've had this board for a year and I've never seen this before.

Death caused by "Confuzzlement" is probably a bug. Please update your board to 6.4.0.

Um... no offense, but I don't want to upgrade my board at this time. Could you please explain just what "Death caused by Confuzzlement" is? Are you saying that I have been hacked and my board is going to die a horribly confuzzled death? Or are you saying that this is a bug in the software and someone somehow inadvertantly "activated" it and once again my board is going to die a horribly confuzzled death? Details please? Thanks in advance.

Whenever I code a scenario that can never occur, I give it a unique error - the confuzzlement one should *NEVER* happen.
As the impossible is occuring, the world is no longer sane. Time to roll back to a known good version of the world and figure things out from there. Standard operating procedure. %)

Ok... that makes sense. In a very strange confuzzled way. Can you tell me what cosmic impossibility occured that caused this impossible scenario? What impossible convergence took place?

I don't have a copy of 6.3.0.1 around currently - I'll get back to you tomorrow.

OKay, Confuzzlement is caused when an impossible or unaccounted for LID is detected. As lib_pntf is the only thing capable of creating LIDs, it must have been passed some impossible values.
Have you made *ANY* changes to the PNTF code, or attempted to add additional LIDs?

quote: it shows me in "Recent Visitors". I guess you're using Extended PNTF, if so re-modify ubb_lib_pntf.cgi, public_pntf_admin.pl and public_display_profile.pl from Extended PNTF instructions..

Charles... I haven't touched anything. No mods or "tweeking" for many many months. This is the first time I've ever seen this. I have been having quite a few "anomalies" though lately. Remember my issue with members being listed more than once with the same IP? Last week, I had 45 members on the board. 43 of them were the same "guest" with the same exact IP. I saved the now.cgi file of that one... in case you needed something to go by to fix this bug. Let me know if you want me to email it to you. Also, the IP was untraceable. Even through SamSpade. My guess is that it was a searchbot. What else could it be? Is someone trying to thrash my board?
LK, I'll try that. Thank you. It hasn't happened again, btw. I still don't understand what was done to make it happen to begin with. As I said, I haven't touched anything in many months.

It was almost certainly a bot - it must have rejected cookies... though I'm not sure how it managed to get 40+ UNIQs assigned. What was the IP?

I didn't take note of the IP after I ran it through SamSpade. I do remember it coming back as having no valid traceroute. I'll email you the now.cgi and you can take a look at it. I'll reference this thread.
