Apparently the servers I use got hacked, and what they did was back everything up, clean up whatever it was they needed to clean up, then restored all the websites.

Unfortunately, my UBB is completely wrecked, and I have no clue what to do to fix it. I've played around re-upping several of the files, and still get the same messages:

The server people said they restored everything back to original data and permissions, and the permissions look like they're all correct.

That error showed up on calling the board, get similar errors trying to call the CP.

Any ideas what to do and where to start?

Oh, I'm running 6.2.1 with a lot of mods
Had it all running beautifully, too.

It's a bug in 6.2.1, I suggest you to upgrade to 6.4 (use Beyond Compare @ www.scootersoftware.com if you want to upgrade and still have the mods), and if you don't want the upgrade, you can do the following very simple thing:[code][/code]

... or you can just nuke vars.pm in the first place, as it is not a required file.

I changed the one bit in the vars.pm file, and that did the trick!

Can anyone explain WHY that happened? Everything was running just fine until they had to restore it using backup data, and then the problem. Why didn't that show up before?

The exact problem is a bug within vars.pm that is triggered under certain mysterious circumstances. That bit is still TBD.
