I need more help. LOL.
There was a server problem earlier last week, and I had to change a line in the vars.pm file to get the board running again. Everything was fine after that.
However, one moderator is unable to post: He can read the board fine, then clicks on the reply button and the reply page comes up (not using Quick Reply because I can't find the mod anywhere). But it won't type any text for him. Just stays blank.
Using 6.2.1, and I've emailed him to find out what browser he's using.
But wondering if anyone knows what could be causing this.

Okay, the browser is IE6, and I'm assuming Windows. (I use Mac myself)
Here's a more detailed description of the problem, from my mod's email:
" I just went to the forum and tried to post in moderators, when I use a keystroke, it takes a number of seconds (maybe 10 or so) before each letter appears in the text box, the cursor jerks across but not until I stop typing. Yet when I enter my password and name at login thatĀ happens perfectly smoothly as always. It is only the text message boxes on the actual boards themselves."
I'm not using Quick Reply, and this only happened to him since the board went crazy after a server crash and was restored with backup data. I had to make a change to the vars.pm file to get it to work again.
6.2.1
Thanks if anyone has any ideas.

have you made any changes to the posting pages? It sounds like a serious javascript problem... I wonder if his processor is hitting 100% on those pages.
Can he try mozilla or opera to see if it's a browser issue?

No, I hadn't made any changes at all for a few weeks. The only change became the foulup when the server crashed, but the board all seems to be running okay elsewhere, and I haven't gotten any other complaints. (And when something fouls up, the emails usually roll in!)
I'll have him try another browser and test.
Thanks!

Good news! I asked this guy to try another browser, so he downloaded and used Netscape 7.1. No problems at all.
He's going to reinstall his MSIE tonight.
Thank you!

Mmm... That is a weird one. I've never fully understood why it happens, but it happened to me once, and a clean install of IE6 worked fine.
As a matter of interest, could anyone shed any light on why this happens please?
