I found odd this in the file ubb_lib_posting.cgi: quote: # one day, Dave will get a haircut...
Is this some kinda joke infopop put in the code that doesn't do anything?

Now I just found this: quote: # On October 6, 2001, Dave finally got a haircut. Within the same file.

The # denotes a comment in Perl. I don't know the full story, but I do know that Dave is navaho, the UBB Product Manager. There are other references in other files too

Dave Dreezer (navaho) obviously doesn't cut his hair much. Bear in mind that the Infopop employees meet each other face to face, so you can expect funny stuff like this to be written by Charles Personally I find nothing funnier than going through new versions of UBB and finding some funny comments. Bah, I'm weird.

Actually, the "one day..." was written by Ted. The update was added later on, when he finally DID get a haircut. He's kept it somewhat trimmed since then, though not quite as much. He also shaved off the beard for a while. That was scary.... almost as scary as me without a beard.
UBB.classic: Love it or hate it, it was mine.

Okay then. But why in perl, would they have a code "#" that renders a code meaningless?

Charles without a beard?! Some things aren't meant to be! As for your question, Agent316... The comments in UBB aren't all worthless. If you start to get involved in writing hacks, some comments are invaluable, because some subroutines can get extremely complicated. Just look at some of the UBB Library files (anything beginning with ubb_lib)...
