I have 5 drop down menus, images and some other stuff in the header/footer on my board. It's a pain to edit it everytime I want to change smth in one of the menus. Is there a better way to do this? Can I put everything in a separate file and link to it in the header/footer section in the cp? What type of code can I use? Is it limited to HTML and javascript only?

For menu's on my site I use a program called "Xara Menu Maker" although it leaves a lot to be desired, it'll pretty much generate the menu code for you as well as make a template that you can edit later (either in the program or by hand). Its a nice program but unfortunately it won't allow you to use your own image sets (without some heavy modification). But as allen pointed out, CSS is quite powerful but it does have a downside. Not every browser accepts differant CSS tags in differant ways. For example, on my site we're developing a new design to be cross platform and cross browser support and have it look the same way no matter what you use... We ended up with 90 font calls per line (if they don't have one font it uses the next). Well I hope I was of some assistance, if not just hit me and I'll stop rambling ...

I already use CSS, the problem is the many code lines I have to put in the header/footer... 5 menus with ~10 options each is a lot of code! Much better if an include file could be used, is that possible?

Ah yes, javascript! Although I'd have to change the whole menu (I use select-boxes now) and I don't particularly like javascript Had to work really hard to get an A in that class, even if js is rather simple... Fortunately we moved on to ASP instead of more advanced js So js is the only thing I can use, correct?

most likely... it would probably be the easiest to implement since there's so many javascripts already pre-made out there that works.
