Hey, I was just wondering if there's any way to restrict certain users to a single forum though the control panel.

I looked myself...but didn't find anything. I tried messing with code a little bit...but, after an hour and nothing changed except a few errors, I decided to admit to myself that I have no clue what I'm doing.

Basically, there are a few users on my forum that don't have too much to contribute...so I'd like to restrict them to a single forum in order to "prove themselves," at which point they'll be given full access again...that's the idea at least.

I'm running 6.3, if that helps.

Try the "ban from forum" modification , and ban them from all forums except the one you want them to be able to see...

Yeah, I was going to do that...but the link to that is dead...anyone have a backup?

If someone can just give me the basic idea of how I'd go about doing this, I could work with it and probably get it to work.

I added a profile field that can only be changed via the control panel...so I basically just need that field to be checked whenever the user tries to make a post and, if it says "No," I need the board to tell them that they're not allowed, otherwise, it works normally. I don't care about them viewing everything...I just only want them to be able to post in their single forum.
