Hey there!

I am the admin for 2 different bulletin boards.
On one, the search Engine works fine
But on the other, The search engine never yields any results. And the search terms are definetly in the subjects, and posts.
Running Infopop UBB.classic 6.6.1

So far i have done the following:
upgraded to 6.6.1
Tried a single index file
rebuilt all of the data files
cleared the cache
created new topics with keywords
searched those keywords and nothing came up.
searched in this site but couldn't find a thread that related to this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could you please provide a link to the board. What hacks do you have installed?

Spiderable URL's won't appear immediately, in some and most cases new posts can take a few months to appear.

On my board, which is incredibly popular with google, if i make a new topic it'll take about a month for it to get spidered.

sorry guys, I was not clear.
I meant the search engine built into the bulletin board itself. It doesn't yield any results as to a search by topic, or by

this one works: www.reamere.com

this one doesn't:
http://www.trainingdirectory.org/cgitrng/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=search
(this site is under construction but the hacks are limited, just some public_forum_summary and stuff like that) I didn't touch anything to do with the search engine. Plus, the hacks are exactly the same as www.reamere.com which does work..

Sorry for the confusion, and thanks for your help in advance!

Yup, first I rebuilt the Member and Forum Metadata, then the Search Index, and then cleared cache.
Here's the deal now.
there is one index file.
when I search inside a forum, it finds the info. I am looking for in a topic.
but... when I search "All open Forums" with the same query, it yields nothing.
Now... there is over 55 forums in this particular board. (I know, its silly)
Perhaps UBB automatically stops searching if there is too many forums and just says "Your search did not return any results." ???

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Your powered-by/copyright statement is currently not a visible color. It must be visible to the unaided human eye under the terms of the license. Please fix that. smile

What hacks do you have installed? If only a few, you should probably consider removing them and opening a support ticket so we can look at your board and figure out where things are falling over.

Ahh, didn't even notice...Fixed.

The board is totally under construction so trying what you said wasn't to hard. But it has proved fruitless.
I also installed the board on my Apache Server here at work clean. I made sure CGI and PHP and everything was running properly on the server then moved the forums.
There are 70 forums total.
When searching, I get the same issue.

My guess at this point is that UBB.Classic doesn't like to search more than X amount of Forums at once with a single index file.

If anyone else has encoutered this please reply.
Thanks for everything guys.

I can assure you that the search can handle a few hundred forums. I should know, I write the code. wink
