Reading the instrutions on upgrading and they say you must use ascii for certain files when you upload them to your server dir.

Why do I get differnt byte counts between ascii and binary?

Can I use binary because this is the only way I get the correct byte count

if it says you must use ascii, you must use ascii. uploading in binary will screw up your board.

Ian,

Thanks for the quick reply

Why does the byte count change when sending something via ascii vs binary ? is that normal?

Images must be uploaded in binary.

The odd byte count when uploading in ASCII is on purpose. smile

I'm no genius when it comes to transfer modes, but I do know that uploading text files in binary causes all carriage returns and line feeds to be replaced with the graphical representation of those characters (which is just a box under almost every character set). That's probably the reason for the different byte count, because images don't use CR/LFs. Open an image in a text editor and you'll see what I mean. smile
