The last few days we have been getting some people that get just blank screens (white)(me included) I thought at first it was garbage on my pc , So I cleared all cookies and temp files. I have three other pcs and get the same problem. I get the blank white screen 40% of the time. Version: 6.7.0 (rv1.210) http://www.huntandlodge.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi Any ideas? Thanks Delw

If you check your server's error logs you should be able to get more info than that.

The Board is pretty much down now, with 75-85% of the opening of pages being white
Any Ideas?
I tried to rebuild the forum again and during that process I got a white screen and it wiped out 2 forums ELK and Africa.
What would happen if I upgraded to the new release now or should I wait till it gets fixed.

Have you installed any mod's? If so, revert to a clean install and see if you still get the issue; if not file a help ticket with infopop.

Gizzy
I sent a ticket in right away, Kate answered a few hours later. She said that it has to do with memory problems on the server. The host techs are looking into it. Still get the problem as of today, but not near as bad as it was yesterday.
Right now the system is unstable and I was told not to make anychanges until they got it fixed.

Humm, if it's a memory issue, ask them to up the memory avaiable in php.ini to at least 20mb for scripts

Since I'm having the same issues, I'd like to know Delw what hacks you've installed in your board.

:nod: theres a line in php.ini: quote:
memory_limit = 8M ; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume (8MB)
The default is 8 megs (8m) can easily be upped to 20megs by changing the 8 to 20; most hosts should be able to support your request. If you have a brain dead tech, it's /etc/php.ini; some user accounts on some hosts have a seperate php.ini in their webspace depending on the systems which would also need updated. You can see how large your memory limit is by creating a file named phpinfo.php and adding the following line to it: Upload the file to your webspace and call it from the web; use Internet Explorer's Find command (under edit) and look for the string: quote: [qb]memory_limit[/qb] The number after that is the memory limit for each script to consume.

Adwoff
before we upgraded to version 6.7 we had the following hacks.
Who's online quick reply and a few others we pretty much kept the board simple. As far as now I have to find the list I kept but I think it was pretty minimal to what we currently have. I will find the notes and post it.
I am using alphaomegahosting for my host. they moved us to a faster server. They said they optimized the server to get it working. I think only 2 other people using them run UBB boards and they didnt have problems unit the other day. These guys have always been good to us. and Have gone way above whats requiered of them to help me out.( I have quite a few problems from time to time that I caused by typos etc)
Gizzy Thanks I will try that in a few hours when I get to the shop.
