What is the bloglike feature on the main page? I'm refering to the content in the middle of the page, that only the admins can update.

Are there any good blog tools that integrate well with UBB?

Thanks!

We're using the old ubbnews modification, there's a couple of updated versions in the mods forum. Do a search with 'news' in the subject only mode smile

I am not familiar with any blog software that works with ubb specifically, tho a ubbnews-type mod is just as good if not better in that you have a whole forum as the backend smile You can make the output (and add in any number of content islands) to look as good as or better than any available blog software smile

Do you just hide the forum from everyone but the admins?

I am running 6.7 Beta, any known problems with using ubbnews?

I can't seem to find any posts regarding ubbnews that will point me in the right direction.

Is there an install file or .zip somewhere?

Using the "Search" function in the 6.7 forum for "news" I got:
6.5 UBBNews Perl
6.5 - 6.6 - 6.7 UBBNews PHP

OK, I found the 6.5 version.

I installed mod wordlet, then tried an install of ubbnews and got the following:

http://www.manhattanreefs.com/images/error3.bmp

It goes on to say that it was installed successfully, but I want to make sure I get rid of those errors before copying over the new files. Any idea what the problem might be?

The problem is you're trying to install a 6.5 mod on 6.7beta files. Your first plan must be to upgrade to the current forum files - 6.7.2.

Then you should use the mod for forums that are made for 6.7 smile

OK, I upgraded to 6.7.2, but I have to wait until tonight to run the Multihack upgrade.

To use UBBNews, I need to install:
wordlets
cp mod

Anything else?

I tried that, but got an error message looking for:

vars_config.inc.php

What folder is that file supposed to be in? My UBB install is fairly old, so some files seem to be in non standard places. I am running 6.7.2 right now.

I enabled the php accelerator (just that one check box in the cp right?)

I'm not sure if I have a working copy of PHP though, I don't see a PEAR directory.

Can you clarify what you mean by submit the paths page?

My fault, I typo'd the path string.

It seems to be working now, but I am getting this error:

Notice: Undefined variable: nodots in F:www.manhattanreefs-2.comcgi-binubbnews.php on line 81

You link to it like this:

http://www.manhattanreefs.com/cgi-bin/ubbnews.php?forum=4

Rebuild the forum stats for whatever forum you are going to use it for and it'll fix the error showing in my link smile

How do you refresh the output from the news file? Do I need a scheduled task in the OS?

Thats what I thought, but it doesn't seem to be working.

http://www.manhattanreefs.com/cgi-bin/ubbnews.php?forum=6&threads=5

In forum 6 there should be two test messages. On my refresh of the php script I only see the one.

it'd be easier to help if we could actually get into forum 6. This would make the read more link more helpful as well

Well, I want to keep it hidden from the main discussion display. So right now it isn't added to any category. I can hit it at:

http://www.manhattanreefs.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=forum;f=6

Are you able to reach that?

OK, I think something was corrupted. I changed the forum from private to public and it gave me a message to reindex. After the reindex there was only the one original post in that forum. Something must have been wrong with the second post (which I did see in the forum view), and the reindex cleaned it up.

I posted a few messages and it is working now.

Thanks!
