Attempting to integrate Hitbox for forum stats, plus banner ads, and Google ads. Never done this before. Received below instructions from my partner with magazine on my forum www.practicalmachinist.com and right off the bat hit a snag in that I'm not sure what they mean by "in the very top of each page" What is "each page" exactly and where would I find the html files for "each page" ? Do they mean every web page possible on my site, or just the home page of each forum, or ??

(copy of no. 3 is altered to post to this forum)

=================================

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Upload the files in the Hitbox, OASScript and AMLogos directories to your site.

2. Place The Hitbox code (hbx_page_code_standard.txt in the Hitbox directory) in the very top of each page, right after the 'body' tag

>> You should be able to ignore the other code unless you have any custom error pages or SSL pages. If so I can talk you through that.

**** Hitbox should now be recording on your site ****

3. Between the 'HEAD''/HEAD' tags place the following code.

'!-- Begin OAS scrpts --'
'script language="javascrpt" src="/OASScrpts/DisplayAds1.js">'script language="javascript1.1" src="/OASScrpts/DisplayAds2.js">'scrpt language="javascrpt" src="/OASScrpts/DisplayAds3.js">'scrpt language="javascrpt" src="/OASScripts/LocalFilenameForums.js">'!-- End OAS scrpts --'

4. Replace the top portion of your code with TopNavHTML.txt

>> You will need to modify the code to replace YOUR_IMAGE_HERE with the pathname to your reduced logo image.

**** You should now be seeing OAS served ads on your site ****
**** One Top banner and 8 buttons ****

5. Insert the Google code (google.txt) at the footer

**** You should now be seeing Google ads on your site ****

6. At this point you should be seeing ads on your pages -- button ads, banner ads, and google ads.

use a full path vs relative path for the src= for the ads, if you choose to use a relative path youll need to have the scripts in /noncgi/OASScripts/

you'll put 3 in the header insert in your style settings.

And by "each page" they mean "each page that you want this displayed on"; luckily the forums you only have to drop it into one place.

Ah...I finally found the header insert in the control panel. OK did that, but now can't figure out no. 4 instructions, and have no idea about full path vs relative path.. confused

Can all of no. 4 requirements be done in control panel or does some of it need to be done directly with individual file manipulation in FTP ?

Full Path:
http://www.mysite.tld/ubb/OASScripts/

Relative Path:
/OASScripts/

And it'd be through the insert itself

I'd have to know what where in TopNavHTML.txt before I'd be able to comment on this...
