I have a potential client who is running a message board on Delphi. One feature she sez is absolutely required is to have only unread posts in a thread show up when a user goes to a thread. I have looked at the functionality of it, and it truly only shows unread messages, not just new since the last time a visitor logged in. I have racked my brain and can't figure out how they do it, or a practical way to attempt it with UBB. Any ideas?

The closest you'll get is the blue arrow hack (somewhere either in the beta forum or in the beta archive).. users can click a link to be taken to the new posts.
UBB.classic: Love it or hate it, it was mine.

Check this out: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33060&highlight=expand http://www.verbalwarfare.net/forums/showthread.php?threadid=554 quote: Hack Description:
Posts you have already read in a thread, will show up with their header only (a row that includes the username, post subject and date only). New posts only will appear in full.
This is user selectable via the 'Edit Options' page: each user can decide if he wants this option on or not. (By default all existing and new users will have this turned Off).
A link at the top of the thread offers to "expand all" posts or "contract all" posts.
by clicking on the + sign on a shruk post, it will expand without the page reloading. By clicking on the - sign on an expanded post, it will shrink without the page reloading.
this option is available for your IE users only! Netscape users will see no difference and will not be affected anyway at all by the change

It's for vB, but I'm sure all the talented members here can easily port.... err create one for UBB.
