This is a nifty little thing that VBB has on thier boards. I gave up my VBB to go with UBB because i like the UBB much better. I was wondering if it would be possible to add something like this to UBB?

What it would do is an Admin or mod could goto the CP and make an announcement in it that would top the topic in every forum and not allow posts in it as well. The VBB has a time limit on how long these will run.

That does sound like a good idea; in the mean-time, though, there is a way you could do something like that ... just manually.

You'd have to have the "sticky threads' hack" installed; create your post and put announcement in the topic heading; click the close box; send it to the board.

When the announcement runs its course, you'd just "unstick it."

A lot of little work, so the idea of an announcement from the CP does sound like a sweet idea.

We do this by making a post in a forum, then sticky that post and close it. Then go into CP, General Display, add the link to the Forum Intro Text box, and it's out there.
