I have searched the forums but cannot find this answer anywhere. I think it is easy, because almost every forum I see has done it already.
This is what I want:
I want to extend the table:
__________________________________________________

With some extra options.

I want to place the following Items there:
-The forum Image (bbtitle.gif)
-The forum custom title
-my profile | register | search | faq | forum home
-» Today's Active Topics «

---------------

I use ubb 6.3.0.1

Can someone please tell me how to do it?

First of all we need a link to your board. You've listed a lot of things there. I assume you plan on using more than one line for this?

Click me . This is the best place to start. You may want to take the time to (backup first) and look at the differences in the stock templates and the modified ones and try modifying them yourself.

It will make life with a UBB much easier if you get more familiar with it. Trust me, a year ago I came here with the ugliest board on the planet. This is a great community and there is a lot of help available.

All you really need to do is move the variables around.

I've think I found the right files:
public_common.pl
public_forum_page.pl
public_topic_page.pl

Just search for :
$vars_config{BBName}

And you'll know where to edit smile

When you're there, you'll see that the sub is well-commented. Just edit between the and tags for each entry (Profile, FAQ, Forum home, etc.) to change what appears. (You can use images too, eg. ). smile

That zip file is pointless isnt it?
It only really applies to ppl that are just setting up there board from scratch. What if you already have a board and you want to have compact headers?
Can some1 please help me out. Im trying to replace the "my profile" etc links to buttons as well... and ive been all through the boards numerous times and havent found anything.
Thankyou

is there a multihack for 6.3.1 for compact headers?
That would be really good if it is too large to write down instructions for.

The one thing that confuses me the most, is you spend money on buying the bulletin board, and spend countless hours trying to edit the code to add these hacks to get the board the way you want it. Couldnt they release boards with the hacks already installed and have an option in the control panel to turn it off and on?

Sorry, but its a waste of money I think.
Anyways, thanks for all the help though guys... i do appreciate it

You can't really MultiHack Compact Headers, cause there would be way too many steps to create. LK says the easiest thing to do would be to use Beyond Compare (you'll find a review of it in the "Reviews" section of the U-Zine database here ).

And about the pre-installed hacks... That's an interesting one. The trouble is, if all the hacks were integrated into the UBB, it would be a waste if half (or all) of them went unused on some UBBs. This way, at least you can pick and choose specifically what goes on your board. Plus, if they all came as standard... Where would UBBDev go? frown

You know there are only a certain amount of hacks they can install as new ones are being thought up every day.

I used to hate the idea of hacking like you but now Im getting into it and coming up with some cool ideas Im actually enjoying it. Why do you think I still hang around here wink

I feel like part of a team.

Anyway shouldent this be in New Members? tipsy
