Hi: I think I asked this as part of another more important question but never got a reply, so here it goes again:
What I wanted to know is how many members can this forum handle (of course this would also depend on the server and resources). This board has 3000 something, what would happen with 50000 or 500000? I have never seen an UBB so big, but my guess is that UBB would not work, Is this one different? The reason I'm asking this is that I want to use the register function of this board to handle registration at the site (not only the board), so I will probably have more users than posts....
Thanks

Good question. http://www.mycoupons.com does something similar. They had their forum members and their regular members all in one database. They used to have the number displayed on the main page, but now it just says Thousands of happy members. About 2 months back I believe they had roughly 70 or 80 thousand members, so I'm not sure what they have now. All user information is indexed in the database, so the actual limit of the number of users would be limited to what the SQL server can handle. I'm not a SQL server expert, but I know this is a very large number (I believe in the millions of records), but don't quote me on that one. --- Scream http://www.wcsoft.net

Thanks for the reply, I noticed that the "who's online" feature is really interesting in a site like that (where a lot of people are online) and that brings some suggestion that SO posted a while ago about changing the online.pl etc to some more useful names and having ICQ displayed there. This seem easy changes and it would be interesting to see them in 5.0.
thanks
