Just a quick question. Does the forums reside on one MySql DB or can forums reside in multiple DBs?

As of right now, as far as I know, it's one database.

The code is based around a single global $dbh handle, which for practical purposes means that it would be hard to switch to having multiple databases.

Why do you want to do this? To split the load?

Not really to split the load, though it's part of the idea.
This is the scenario I was thinking about. Lets say my website sells Videos & CDs and so I want to create a few forums, ie "New Videos, DVDs, Actors, Actresses, Genres, CDs, Male Singers, Female Singers, Customer Service, etc.." That's alot of forums. So instead of having all the forums reside on one DB, wouldn't it be easier to create a seperate DB for each forum, that way if one of the DBs in MySql gets corrupted, it woulnt affect the other DBs.
