Hi,
I have a problem with my installation of w3t on my server, I have just recently replaced a set of boards with a new database and new installation of the package.
Now, whenever I try and access the boards, it remembers the user name I used to log in as (which does not exist in this new database) and will not actually let me log in as anyone else! Every time I try and log in, i get a Username/password not known as it looks at the cookie(?) and tries to log in using those credentials.
So, best way to solve this i think would be to delete the cookie that remembers that information. BUT I cant find it :(

Here's the note on this that I've added to my FAQ: If your cookie goes bad and you want to delete it because you can't login any more, you can find it for Netscape at Program Files\Netscape\Users\yourname\cookies.txt. Delete the three lines containing "www.yourdomain.com", "/cgi-bin/wwwthreads" and your name, password or language. For IE, in WindowsTemporary Internet Files, delete "wwwthreads/ - Cookie: [email protected]/cgi-bin/wwwthreads" [] http://www.amdragon.com/images/eileensig.gif[/]

I have sorted it now thanks...
But, it was not quite as simple as that (i had already looked through for cookies like that)
The strange thing was that the offending cookie was simply titled
"dave@boards[1]"
The only reason i can think for this is because the URL of the page included a /boards at the end.
Strange, but sorted :)

This is easy. Point your browser to http://www.yourdomain.com/path/logout.pl?Cat= just once and then log in again with that machine.

hi there i have a little question too :) i have installed two copies of w3t on a domain.. both are using the same database, but they are supposed to look like two seperate forums. the second forum is located in an subdir, which means that the users have to login twice. is it possible to avoid this? the main forum is www.internet-foren.de and the "extra" forum is located at www.internet-foren.de/downlines. thanks for any advice :) Marc
