It is now 4:31 PM in the Seattle area, and this forum just changed to PHP style. Is it me or did you just change it? I was going from forum to another when it changed. Thanks, [:red] D[:orange]a[:blue]v[:green]e[:purple]AEdited by DaveA on 10/26/00 04:39 PM.

I was experimenting with a style sheet on the PHP site to mimic the look of the colors Muhammad had on his test forum. Once I had it working I moved it over here because I really liked it[]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/].

It won't be long before web sites have their own smell. A company called DigiScents is developing software components and a peripheral device called the iSmell Personal Scent Synthesizer. The iSmell is a speaker-sized computer peripheral device that attaches to the serial or USB port of your personal computer and plugs into a standard electrical outlet. The iSmell emits naturally-based vapors into the user's personal space. Was just reading this today and made me think of the interesting discussions in the future of what the site should smell like. If it were left up to Scream, given his "courageous" colour taste, I reckon it would really pong! (You know I'm joking Scream). []/w3timages/icons/laugh.gif[/] Darren. http://www.bullpen.com.au

I like the new color scheme a lot better. Two small comments (am I ever satisfied?): 1) The "reply" botton (and others) need a corresponding change - they look too harsh against these colors. 2) That evil 7pt font is back for the .new style. Scream just likes galling me with this one. []/w3timages/icons/frown.gif[/] Bill Dimm, MagPortal.com - [:red]free feeds for your site.

Well, I'm hoping that Muhammad will come up with some new images to go with the color scheme. If not, then I can take a stab at it, but we really don't want that to happen[]/w3timages/icons/laugh.gif[/].
Sorry about the 7pt, totally forgot about that. Honest I didn't do it on purpose[]/w3timages/icons/wink.gif[/].

Nothing wrong with a good shade of vomit.[]/w3timages/icons/laugh.gif[/] Maybe that's what I'll call this: "Welcome to WWWThreads, vomit style" You think that would be a good selling point?[]/w3timages/icons/wink.gif[/]

That's what I thought too! I personally don't like the new look, but if it helps you sell...well I'll just say I'm not here because of how it looks. I'd give you my stylesheet, but I had to add different CSS classes, because some of the top links wouldn't show correctly (you can look at http://www.thetechguide.com/forum to see what I mean).

I have to say that I don't like the new look... To me it looks like a little girl room (I hope you see what I mean. Some people decorate, at least in argentina, babies rooms like this...the same colors. They would go with something similar for a boy but in shades of blue...).
Of course that's just my opinion, and my opinions are ussually very personal.... []/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/]
BTW I dont consider colors that important...it is the one thing that I would like to customize in my board (probably no matter what color you chose. It reallly depends on the site I'm working on) and it seems an easy hack. However, some people seem to think different(again...).

Also: I believe this is a "very personal" color scheme. Some people will like it, it will fit on some sites but I think it would be wiser to go with a more (unpersonal? I can not find the word for what I want to say...it's late and I'm tired)...
I believe that's the reason most people go with shades of gray....

It was pretty disturbing on the eyes at first but these colours are growing on me now and I quite like them. Darren. http://www.bullpen.com.au

Since many sites will probably play with the colors a lot and offer several different color schemes to their users now that that is an option, it is probably best to go with gray buttons for maximum compatibility. I'm not sure it will look too great with this (vomit?) color scheme, but it will probably look least horrible with an array of color schemes. As an alternative to coloured buttons, how about the occasionally requested (by me anyway) text alternative to graphics? Simon Wolf, Webmaster, Access All Areas http://www.athree.com

I've been thinking about trying to move all of the <img> tags into the language files. So, if you wanted to have text links instead of buttons you would just edit the language files and pull out the text links.
On a side note to anyone in this thread. If you have setup 5.1 and have created a nice looking style sheet, send it on over along with a name for it. I'd like to include a wide variety of style sheets along with the main release.
Also, what's a good name for this one. Something besides vomit[]/w3timages/icons/laugh.gif[/].

Just a thought: I don't like the new look. I even preferred the previous one....

Making the image tags language independent would be good. Then I could have my text links and people could create language-specific buttons. As for this look ... How about Desert ... It's kinda yellow and not very exciting. Sorry! Simon Wolf, Webmaster, Access All Areas http://www.athree.com

>I've been thinking about trying to move all of the ![]() tags into the language files Yes! Like WolkUK, I prefer to use text links, so this would be a welcome change. As it is now, I just go diving into the code to make the change myself, but having it in the language files or some such place would be even easier.

With the <img> tags moved to one location, maybe they can be given WIDTH and HEIGHT attributes now? Bill Dimm, MagPortal.com - [:red]free feeds for your site.

[:blue]A company called DigiScents is developing software components Yeah, I was just flashing my VIP pass to them at Internet World on... Thursday, and they even put me on camera to demo it. Anyone see me on C-SPAN saying... "hmm, that does smell like coffee!!"? []/w3timages/icons/wink.gif[/] Actually, the major minus to their product... for me, anyway, is that I got a splitting headache after smelling the stuff!! I've been out of town and have not had a chance to do the other styles and new images, yet... I was going to do a few color combos that y'all could pick from... Well, I'll still do that anyway. Yep, the color combination is OK. A bit Sepia or the BLUES are better.
