Has anyone asked if it would be a good idea to show, in the categories view, who moderates each board? Sometimes, it would be nice to direct a post to a moderator without going to great lengths to find out the moderator's name.

Just a thought.

Hi Poil, I know about the forum information. What I had in mind, for instance, is if the board "The Information Board" would read "The Information Board - Moderated by Poil".

Then I wouldn't have to go to the forum information page. I know it is not a big deal, I just thought it would be a nice feature.

i figured out how to do this. what version are you running (perl or PHP)? i put who the moderators are on the main page e.g. http://www.extremeforums.org/wwwthreads2
tell me where you want it to be shown, and i will tell you where and what to put it in.

That looks great, Poil. If I had a choice, I think I would like the moderator's name as part of the board's title with a link to the moderator's bio. For instance, on your board it would say "Announcements - Moderated by Poil11" and "Poil11" would have a link to your bio. I am running Perl v5.1.4, is there a way to do this?

Where do you reckon it could go without hogging space?

Hi Eileen,

The board name has room after it for a "Moderated by - Eileen" line...doesn't it?

I think it would look cluttered.

I would vote to merge the three columns on the right into one 'Forum Information' column with a two-column, four row table inside it... like this:

Threads:    1085 [:red](3 New)
Posts:       4521 [:red](15 new)
Last Post:  12/13/00 01:48 PM
Moderator: Scream, Eileen

Sure, it will be four lines, but the font size will be 8pt, so it won't take up a ton of space.. about the same as a normal forum description. Will give more space for longer descriptions, especially on pixel-width forums.

Ah, that's a brilliant solution. It covers all the problems in one fell swoop.

Ok, check this... http://www.imcuniverse.com/cgi-bin/forum/wwwthreads.pl

If you register, mark a forum read, logout and post as anonymous to that forum, and then login and view that forum again, you can also see my new messages feature that marks new messages in postlist with different cell bgcolors, and bolded text, configured by a class in the css.

Umm. Now I've seen it, it doesn't work for me. Takes up too much vertical space.
For those whose desparately want the moderator to show, maybe in brackets right after the Board name would be the neatest solution after all. (Moderator: Scream)

I like the different colored background for the new messages though.
(But not the bolding - that makes it wrap.)

I'm still playing with the new messages... have had to adjust the column widths so the lines don't wrap. Once I implement it, it will work correctly.

I agree on the moderator listing... for those who want it. I don't, so I didn't put it in.

Actually, I forgot to remove the line break where the new message count is on the main index, that should display next to the post total... if that had anything to do with anything. []/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/]

That'll be a bit better but it's still too deep for me.
