Can anyone explain how to Tar up a directory which has all my mysql dump files in it? e.g
Dir = Backup File= my.dump my.dump1 my.dump2

Easy-
To backup a directory: tar -cvf file.tar <path_to_dir> To extract the dir: tar -xvf file.tar
