Why do I have to accept advertising like "powered by WWWThreats" in a paid version?

You don't have to keep that "powered by" thing there.
As far as I know, the only requirement is that you provide a link to wwwthreads.com somewhere on your site.

Could do like I did....
I created a "Credits" page where I put links to PaintShopPro, my scanner manufacturer and everybody else I give a little thanks to.

Yes, that would be fine. As long as there is a link somewhere within your site you can remove the others.
