Imagine you're looking at your standard wwwthreads main index screen. You have your header, your menu, the forums, and your footer stuff. You have an option for a calendar in your row of menu choices. When you click it, the standard header loads, as well as the menu bar, then the calendar, then the footer.

That middle part, the calendar, is what I'm wondering about. What should it look like? There are a couple of options (showthreaded, showflat) when viewing posts, should there be several different ways of viewing the calendar as well?

Anyone seen a good calendar software they like?

Should it start out with a monthly view as default and then let the user move in from there (weekly, daily)? How should it look?

montly view is the screen that is shown. but the option to go forward to whatever month they want to and any year. yahoo shows only today and that kinda bugs me. an option for both would be fantatic. i couldn't get the display functions right, i kinda put it on hiatus. i will look at my code again right now. i just got another php book that might help me.

I've been living on that site for the last few weeks just amazed at the breadth of of good open source software that is available to build killer sites.

a lot of the user questions and requests for scream to provide more add-on modules are already done and ready for implementation. e.g. calendar, chat, etc.

Hi Kurt.

By ready for implementation do you mean that it's ready to be converted to integrate with W3T or do you mean there's already stuff out there that'll work with w3t like so?

I mean there's a ton of stuff out there that runs in php/mysql that could likely be integrated with w3t very easily.

that's what we're planning to do in the next little while as we build our community on the net.

quite mindblowing that there's this much good free stuff out there.

by the way what do you have in mind?

is it a general forum level calendar that displays forum events or is it an individual user calendar?

The one I've drafted up uses a public and private calendar with space to show "shared" calendars between users.

Actually after doing a couple of plug-ins for W3T I've found that I like the simpler scripts (particularly the ones without database support) since a lot of the fancy stuff just gets in the way. The bigger the program, the more code you have to sift through to get to the stuff you want. []/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/]
