is this the limitations of cookies that when they are being set that it uses the domain that you are on. so if you are seting a cookie for wwwthreads.com or if you type in www.wwwthreads.com it will set a cookie for both of those?

Yes. The cookie spec is annoying. The leading "www." matters which gives me a headache []/w3timages/icons/crazy.gif[/]. People have tried to get around this with the "domain=" option but it doesn't work. See here and here for details.
