Hi--

I have a private (only members of the group can read or post) board on W3T 5.1.5 where I have some people set up as subscribed to the board. They are not getting any of the posts e-mailed to them.

I set myself up to receive a subscription too, and posted a test message. It has been 36 hours, and still no e-mail.

What do I need to do?

:-Doug.

In order for subscriptions to be mailed out you need to setup the cron job. These cron jobs are in PERL, so you will need to go into the cron directory and take a look at the INSTALL file for the install steps.

I'm having problems getting mine to work even w/ cron.. I had to hack the scripts a little cause they weren't working (like one of them was trying to use the theme file?!?! and the languages file etc).. if I run the subscription file it won't send out an email for some reason :-(

I figured it was probably just something I did my self to break it, but I don't think so.

The latest version has the theme line commented out, as this isn't needed. But the languages are actually used. In the cron directory there should be a languages directory that has the necessary language files for the subscription routine. I use these here for my cron tasks. You should be able to run them from the command line if the variables are setup ok. Actually this is the best way to test to see if they are working as you won't have to wait for the cron job to execute.

oh ok. I haven't gotten the latest version yet because it only shows 2 bug fixes.. I was gonna wait until the next beta or non beta version before I upgraded..

oh well.

Thanks.

Thanks Scream. Will take a look. Did not find install in a cron directory, but will keep looking.

Thanks.
