Well,
I am the proud new owner of wwwthreads. I love it so far but here is one little problem:

I plan on having diffrent moderators for diffrent groups/boards.
I created 2 extra groups for two private boards plus i have a normal 'user' level group.

How do I prevent the moderator of my extra group from also beeing a moderator of group 'user'. I want him to be a general user there but just not a moderator. The only way I can think of right now is to make him a moderator ONLY for the extra group (no access to group user) and give him an extra logon to participate as normal user for both groups (no access to moderator).

confused ? ask questions.

Being a moderator of "user"?? What is it you don't want the moderators to do with the regular user group? I'm confused.

You want him to be a general user of where? Where's "there"? If you're afraid that since the "extra" moderator also has "users" in his group, that doesn't mean he'll be able to modify the "regular" boards, that's not how it works.

Regarding the boards, a moderator has to be specifically assigned to a board before he/she can change attributes and whatnot to that board. It's possible for someone to be a "moderator" and have no direct control over any boards.

Some of the functions moderators do usually have at their disposal is show/edit users, edit groups (that the moderator belongs to, etc).

Maybe if you tell us exactly what you want to limit the moderators to it would help... []/w3timages/icons/crazy.gif[/]

I guess it wasn't that clear....

- A moderator can moderate any board that he has read and write access to. In my case that might be a problem unless I am overlooking something.

Lets say I have 2 boards. Board-A and Board-B.
Board-A has the following rights: Users: read, write Guest: Read, Board-B Users: Read, Write
Board-B has the following rights: Users: No Access, Guest: No Access, Board-B Users: Read, Write

This setup would make Board-A somewhat public and Board-B a hidden members board. You have to be a member of group B in order to read and write. Now I have 2 Moderators. One for each group. I can successfully create a Moderator that can moderate Board-A and NOT have any form of ACCESS to Board-B But I not the other way around. Since Board-A is a 'public' board my Moderator for Board-B can also moderate Board-A.

What I am looking for is a Moderator for Board-B that has normal user read.write rights for Board-A.

See the problem now ? If you want I can give you access to my w3 so can play with it.

Klaus
