I am going to update a 5.0.4 perl installation to 5.3 php. What altertables versions do I need to get to 5.3 php? Where can I get the altertables?

You'll need to download the latest PERL version first and run the proper altertables from the UPGRADING file. This will get your db to the proper format so you can switch over to the PHP version.
