I know that in an earlier thread, someone suggested making the "Remind Me!" feature link to a specific post rather than to a complete thread. I don't believe most people, myself included, are too interested in wading through a thread trying to remember which post it was that they wanted to reply to or read again; especially in threaded mode, where there really aren't many differentiating features between posts other than the poster's name.

It would seem to me that, if a poster wanted to be reminded of the whole thread, all she would need to do is mark the first post in the thread. Maybe there is some technical reason why linking to an individual post is more difficult than linking to a whole thread. If so, then please disregard my comments. If not, please consider revising the "Remind Me!" feature to link to individual posts rather than threads.

Thank you.

Derek

Further to this, I reverted to using Post Numbers on all headers. This means that they can now search on Number. You could probabably use that same number to link the Favorites to...

I agree on the post numbers... that clearly identifies the post, especially on longer threads where the same person may have several posts, you can clearly reply to a specific post, not just to that person in general, but actually... I'd prefer it to list both, the name for quick reference, the post ID for clear identification.

Yep, this is definitely possible. The reason I just did it with a thread at this point is I was able to use the same code for the reminders as I used for the favorites. If everyone doesn't mind waiting a while longer for the release I can change this.

Everybody knows I can wait. []/w3timages/icons/wink.gif[/]
This might also be used to fulfil Derek's "Show all my posts and their replies" wish. I already have a hack that puts a link to "show all this user's posts" behind their name in the Welcome message on the front page. If it could flag the messages that have replies, that would do the trick.

I am willing to wait. It's a wonderful feature and if it can be made more useful at this point, I'm all for it. Thanks for listening Scream.

Eileen, I checked the user list for "Everybody" but didn't see her listed. Is she a registered user? []/w3timages/icons/wink.gif[/]

The "Self-Search" link is a natural for the Control Panel. Notice I said link (I know this is how you understand the feature, this is for readers who may not be familiar with the discussion), since attempting to "show all my posts and their replies" in the control panel would make it unwieldy (something Scream has already stated).

Ok, the "Remind Me" feature has been moved into the Post Extras area and now works on an individual post instead of a thread.

Thank You Scream. The new functionality is great. I'm equally impressed with the speed with which you implemented it []/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/]
